Grand Beginnings

The story of Grand Gardner begins in 1899 as a Romanesque-style schoolhouse built on big ideas. Named for civic innovator and prominent banker Joseph Gardner, the Gardner School welcomed children to primary school for 73 years, serving as a community touchstone for curiosity and connection.

A Place to Belong

Upon the closing of Gardner School, the Boys and Girls Club became stewards of the beautiful historic building. For the next 50 years, this property was a hub of activity as the youth of our community began to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.
